BOOX Palma 2
Customization
Fonts, screensavers, gestures and other tweaks.
Because it is a full Android device, the Palma 2 is highly configurable. The catch is that “customization” here means Android settings and BOOX’s own layers on top, not a folder of files.
What you can change
- Fonts in the stock NeoReader app, and in most third-party readers, by adding font files to a folder.
- The volume keys and gestures — map the volume rocker to page turns, and set the Navigation Ball and edge swipes for one-handed use.
- Per-app display behaviour — the optimisation dialog that sets refresh mode, contrast, DPI and animation handling for each app. On the small screen, DPI is the setting you will use most.
- The launcher and home screen — BOOX’s own, or a third-party e-ink launcher from the Play Store.
Start here
- Add your own fonts to the BOOX Palma 2 Copy font files into the right folder and the Palma 2's stock reader picks them up. Third-party reading apps use their own font folders.
- Set up the Navigation Ball and gestures on the BOOX Palma 2 The Palma 2 has no page-turn buttons, so set the volume keys, the Navigation Ball and edge swipes for comfortable one-handed reading.
- Optimise a single app on the BOOX Palma 2 The Palma 2's per-app optimisation dialog sets refresh mode, contrast, DPI and animation handling. On a 6.13-inch screen, DPI is the one you will change most.
