ReaderTweaks
A practical reference for getting more out of e-ink readers — organised by the exact device you own. It is an independent publication, and it is a commercial one: advertising, affiliate links and other partnerships help pay for it, but they do not buy our conclusions.
What this is
Every e-reader has a permanent hub here, and under each one the same seven sections: Guides, KOReader, Calibre, Customization, Troubleshooting, Accessories and Comparisons. The aim is that when you search for a specific problem on a specific device, the page you land on is written for that device and nothing else.
How the guides are tested
Steps are walked through on the actual hardware and dated. E-reader firmware changes often, so when a step depends on a firmware version the page says which one. If something here is wrong or out of date, that is a bug — see contact below.
The hardware we test on is a mix: devices we have bought, devices supplied or loaned by manufacturers or retailers, and accessories sent for evaluation. We do not commit to buying every device independently. What a supplied unit does not come with is a promise of coverage, a positive verdict, or any right to see a piece before it goes up. We write the same way whether we own the device or borrowed it.
How ReaderTweaks is funded
ReaderTweaks is a commercial publication. The following pay, or may in future pay, for the work:
Affiliate links
Accessory links go to Amazon and carry our Amazon Associates tag. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We recommend the accessory because it is the right one, and disclose the link because you should know it earns us something — those two facts sit together fine. The privacy policy covers the data side.
Advertising and sponsorships
We may run ordinary display advertising and clearly labelled sponsorships, including in the newsletter. Anything paid for is marked as such and is kept visually distinct from independent editorial content. Buying ad space or a sponsor slot gets you exactly that. It does not get a better review, a higher ranking, softened troubleshooting advice, or a guaranteed recommendation, and we will say so to anyone who asks for one.
Review units and loaned hardware
We accept free review products, manufacturer-supplied and loaned devices, and accessories provided for testing. Where a supplied or loaned product is central to an article or review, we say so on that page. Providing the hardware does not earn a review, favourable coverage, editorial approval rights, or a veto. If a device is disappointing, we will write that.
Commercial and referral partnerships
We may enter direct advertising deals, referral arrangements and other commercial partnerships with retailers, manufacturers and software makers. The same line applies to all of them: a partnership can fund the site, but it cannot decide what we conclude about a product.
What we will not do
No amount of money buys any of the following:
- A positive review, or guaranteed favourable coverage.
- A ranking, or the top spot in an independent comparison.
- A change to troubleshooting advice.
- A recommendation that is not disclosed as sponsored.
- Manufacturer control over an editorial conclusion, pre-approval of an independent review, or a veto over legitimate criticism.

We do not sell positive reviews, guaranteed verdicts, or placement in a ranking. If that is what you are after, we are not the right site.

Independence and ownership
ReaderTweaks is independently owned and not affiliated with Kobo, Amazon, Onyx, PocketBook, reMarkable or any other manufacturer. Product names are used for identification only. No manufacturer or advertiser has a stake in the site or a say in what it publishes.
