Privacy policy

The short version: ReaderTweaks collects as little as it can. There are no accounts, we do not sell or share your data for marketing, and any advertising the site carries is handled without profiling you across the web.

What we collect

Only two things, and only when you choose to take part.

Newsletter email address. If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is stored by our email provider, Kit (formerly ConvertKit), so we can send you the newsletter. We ask you to confirm the address by email before anything is sent. You can unsubscribe from the link in any issue, which removes you from the list.
Anonymous traffic statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and referrers without cookies and without building a profile of you. It does not identify individual visitors.

We do not use Google Analytics or social-media tracking pixels.

Advertising and sponsorships

ReaderTweaks is a commercial publication and may carry advertising and clearly labelled sponsorships, including in the newsletter. It does not currently run display advertising. If it does in future, any ad or sponsor slot will be labelled, and we will not add third-party ad networks that track you from site to site without updating this page to say what they collect and giving you a choice where the law requires one. How advertising relates to what we recommend is covered in the editorial policy.

Affiliate links

Some links to accessories go to Amazon and include our Amazon Associates tag. If you buy something after clicking one, Amazon pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon may set its own cookie when you follow the link; that is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not ours. We never see who clicked or what they bought — only an aggregate commission total. As set out in the editorial policy, affiliate income does not decide which products we recommend.

Cookies

ReaderTweaks itself sets no cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly functional cookie to keep the site secure and fast. If you interact with an embedded service — following an Amazon link, or submitting the newsletter form — that service may set its own cookies under its own policy.

Where the site is hosted

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Your request reaches Cloudflare's network, which processes connection data such as your IP address to deliver the page and block abuse. Cloudflare acts as our data processor for this.

Your choices and rights

Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
Ask us to delete your email address from our list, or to tell you what we hold, by writing to the address below.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California) you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data. We will honour those requests.

Children

ReaderTweaks is a technical reference for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted in the newsletter.
