Remap the page-turn buttons on the PocketBook Verse Pro
Assign a short press and a long press of each Verse Pro button to the actions you want — page turns, bookmarks, dictionary, screen refresh and more.
Remappable buttons are one of the things the Verse Pro does that a Kobo or Kindle does not. Two buttons with a short and long press each give you four actions to assign. The short presses are usually best left as page turns (or reversed), while the long presses are worth spending on bookmark, dictionary or a manual screen refresh.

Open the key-mapping settings
From the home screen, open Settings, then "Personalize", then "Key mapping" (on some firmware it is under "Reading settings"). You will see a list of the physical controls the Verse Pro has.

Understand short press and long press
Each of the two page-turn buttons has two actions you can set separately — a short press and a long press (holding the button for about a second). That gives you four assignable actions from two buttons.

Set the short presses for turning pages
Most people leave short press on the lower button as "Next page" and the upper button as "Previous page". To reverse them — common for left-handed readers, or if you prefer the top button for forward — swap the two here.

Assign the long presses to something useful
Long press is where the value is. Options usually include "Add bookmark", "Dictionary", "Screen refresh" (a full flash to clear ghosting), "Brightness", "Table of contents", "Rotate" and "Frontlight on/off". A common setup is long-press-down for bookmark and long-press-up for screen refresh.

Save and test
The changes take effect immediately. Open a book and try each press and hold to confirm they do what you expect. You can come back and adjust any time.

Note what carries over to KOReader
These mappings apply to PocketBook's own reader. KOReader has its own, separate and more extensive gesture and key settings, so if you run KOReader you will set its buttons up there instead.
