The Palma 2’s whole appeal is holding it like a phone, so the setup that matters is one-handed: volume keys for page turns, the Navigation Ball placed low for your thumb, and the lanyard for a loose grip on a commute. The camera is a genuine extra — a quick way to pull text off a printed page into a searchable note.

  1. Set the volume keys to turn pages

The Palma 2 has no dedicated page-turn buttons, but the volume rocker can act as one. Under Settings, then "Button" (or "Key"), enable volume-key page turning. Some reading apps also have their own "volume keys turn pages" option in their settings — turn it on there too if the system setting does not carry.

  2. Choose which volume key is forward

In the same button settings, pick whether volume-up or volume-down is next page. Most people set volume-down as forward so the thumb rests naturally.

  3. Turn on one-handed gestures

Enable the Navigation Ball (Settings, then "Navigation Ball") and place it low on the screen where your thumb reaches. Put a full-screen refresh, Back and Home on it. Set a bottom-edge swipe for recent apps so you are not stretching to the top of the screen.

  4. Use the lanyard

The Palma 2 has lanyard holes and usually ships with a strap. Threading it lets you hold the device loosely in one hand on a commute without gripping hard, which reduces hand fatigue over a long read.

  5. Scan a page or document with the camera

The rear camera is for capturing text, not photography. In the stock notes app, or an OCR app from the Play Store, use it to photograph a printed page; the device can turn the image into text you can search or paste. It is handy for grabbing a paragraph from a paper book.

  6. Adjust the front light for pocket-to-hand use

Because you will pick it up in varied light, set the automatic light schedule (warm and dim after dark) so you are not adjusting it every time, and keep the manual sliders one swipe away in the control centre.
