Reading and writing settings on the reMarkable Paper Pro Move
The settings that make the Move comfortable one-handed — handedness and toolbar side, palm rejection, page-turn taps, default pen, the Marker button, the front light, and how PDFs fit the small screen.
None of these are hidden or risky — they are the normal settings that decide whether the Move feels right in one hand. Set handedness and toolbar side first, then a default pen and ink colour, then the Marker button, then get comfortable with the front light. Spend a minute per PDF on the fit and zoom, or prepare documents in Calibre so you do not have to.
-
Set your writing hand and toolbar side
In Settings, then "General" (or "Stylus" / "Handedness"), choose left or right. This moves the floating toolbar to the other edge and tunes palm rejection. On a small screen the toolbar takes up a bigger share of the page, so having it on the correct side matters more here.
-
Adjust palm rejection if you still get stray marks
If the side of your hand still draws, confirm handedness is correct, and start each stroke with the Marker tip on the screen before you rest your palm.
-
Turn page-turn taps on or off
Edge taps to turn pages are handy one-handed, but on a narrow screen it is easy to trigger them while writing near the edge. Turn them off if that happens; swiping still works.
-
Set a default pen and thickness
Pick the pen you use most and set its default thickness and colour. On the Move's colour screen it is worth setting a default ink colour you like, so new notebooks open ready to write.
-
Assign the Marker Plus shortcut button
If you have the Marker Plus, its barrel button has a shortcut. In Settings, then "Stylus", set it to "eraser" (hold to erase, release to return to the pen) or to cycle the last two tools. The eraser option is the popular choice, and quicker than reaching a small toolbar.
-
Set the front light for the room
Swipe down for the light control. The Move has a front light — run it low in a dim room and off in daylight to save its smaller battery. This is the setting people adjust most on a device they use in changing light.
-
Control how PDFs fit the screen
Open a PDF, open its view menu, and set the fit — "fit width", "fit page", or a custom zoom. A full-size page is small on the Move; zoom in and pan, or prepare a margin-trimmed or resized copy in Calibre so it fills the page without constant zooming.
