KOReader
Installing and living with the KOReader reading app.
PocketBook is one of the platforms KOReader supports directly. There is no jailbreak and no exploit: you copy KOReader’s application file into the device’s “applications” folder, and it shows up in the PocketBook app menu next to the stock reader. Opening it starts KOReader; closing it returns you to PocketBook’s own software.
Why add it
The Verse Pro’s stock reader is already capable and opens most formats, so the reasons to add KOReader are narrower than on a Kobo:
- Finer typography — margin, line-spacing and hyphenation control beyond what PocketBook exposes.
- Better PDF handling — KOReader’s reflow and crop tools are stronger for documents on a 6-inch screen.
- Consistency — the same reading app and settings as your other devices, with a synced position.
- Configurable buttons and gestures — every press and swipe can be assigned an action.
Why you might not
You lose the PocketBook store, Send-to-PocketBook delivery, Adobe DRM library books, text-to-speech and audiobook playback while inside KOReader. If you use those, you will be switching between the two readers.
