BOOX Palma 2
KOReader
Installing and living with the KOReader reading app.
The Palma 2 runs Android, so KOReader is just an app. You install it from the Google Play Store or by sideloading the Android APK — no jailbreak, and the stock BOOX software is untouched.
Why put it on a Palma 2
- Typography and layout control — on a 6.13-inch screen the margin, hyphenation and font-weight settings matter a lot, and KOReader exposes all of them.
- Format range — CBZ, CBR, FB2, DjVu and a usable PDF reflow, in one app.
- Its own refresh handling — often cleaner than a generic app forced through BOOX’s optimisation.
- Volume-key and gesture control — KOReader can map the Palma 2’s volume keys to page turns and assign every corner and swipe.
- Consistency — the same reading app and synced position as your other devices.
What to know
- KOReader will not open DRM-protected store books (Kindle, Kobo, library loans). Use the store apps for those.
- After installing, set KOReader’s BOOX per-app refresh mode to HD or Regal, and let KOReader control full refresh from inside its own settings.
