BOOX Palma 2
Comparisons
How this device stacks up against the alternatives.
The Palma 2 is the odd one out: a phone-shaped black-and-white e-ink device with no SIM slot, a camera, a speaker and full Android with the Play Store. It is built to slip into a pocket and be read one-handed like a phone.
- BOOX Go 6. The closest match on screen and software — same black-and-white e-ink, same Android, same microSD slot — but in a traditional reader shape that needs two hands or a stand. Pick the Go 6 if you read sitting down and want a larger, more book-like page; pick the Palma 2 to read standing on a train with one hand.
- Kobo Clara BW. A dedicated 6-inch Kobo, not Android. It works out of the box, lasts far longer on a charge, and has a more polished store — but it cannot run the Kindle app, a browser, or feed readers. Choose the Clara BW for a calm single-purpose reader; choose the Palma 2 to carry your books, articles and audiobooks on one pocket device.
- BOOX Go Color 7. Bigger, colour, with page-turn buttons. It is a better main reader; the Palma 2 is a better carry-everywhere second device.
