Set up the Navigation Ball and gestures on the BOOX Go 6
The Go 6 has no buttons, so the floating Navigation Ball and edge-swipe gestures are how you move around. Here is what to put on them.
The Go 6 has no hardware keys, so the Navigation Ball and edge gestures are how you move around Android without hunting for on-screen buttons that are hard to see on e-ink. Set up a one-tap full-screen refresh first, add Back and Home, and make sure each reading app’s tap-to-turn zones are generous.
-
Turn on the Navigation Ball
Open Settings, then "Navigation Ball" (sometimes under "Function settings"). Enable it. A small circular button floats over whatever app you are in; drag it to a corner out of the way of text. On the small Go 6 screen, keep it near an edge so it does not cover words.
-
Choose the shortcuts
Tapping the ball fans out a ring of shortcuts. A useful set is: full-screen refresh, Back, Home, recent apps, and a brightness or refresh-mode toggle.
-
Set the full-refresh shortcut first
The single most useful shortcut is "refresh" or "full-screen refresh". Ghosting builds up in any app; a one-tap clear from the ball beats opening the control centre every time.
-
Set up edge-swipe gestures
Under Settings, then "Gesture", assign swipes from the left, right and bottom edges — for example swipe up from the bottom for recent apps or the control centre, swipe from the left edge for Back. Keep the page-turn area of your reading apps clear of these.
-
Check your reader's tap zones
Because there are no buttons, page turning is entirely touch. In each reading app, set generous tap-to-turn zones (or rely on swipes) so you are not aiming for a small target one-handed.
-
Hide the ball in full-screen apps
The ball has an auto-hide and opacity option, and you can toggle it off quickly from the control centre when you need the whole screen.
