BOOX Go 6

Comparisons

How this device stacks up against the alternatives.

The Go 6 is the smallest, lightest, plainest BOOX: a 6-inch black-and-white screen, no buttons, no speaker, but full Android with the Play Store and a microSD slot.

  • BOOX Go Color 7. The bigger sibling — 7-inch, colour, with physical page-turn buttons and a speaker. If you want colour, buttons, or a larger page, pick the Go Color 7; the Go 6 is the choice for the lightest possible Android reader.
  • Kobo Clara BW. The same 6-inch black-and-white size, but a dedicated Kobo rather than Android. It works out of the box, has much better standby, and its store and software are more polished — but it cannot run the Kindle app or arbitrary apps. Choose the Clara BW for a simple long-lasting reader; choose the Go 6 to run every store’s app on one device.
  • Kindle Paperwhite. A locked 7-inch Amazon reader, waterproof, with the best standby of the four. Choose it only if you buy from the Kindle store. The Go 6 can run the Kindle app and everything else.
